Jimmie L. Eddington, 76, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Family Life Church, 3900 SW 58th St. with Pastor Robbie Ashlock officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Jimmie was born February 3, 1947 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to William “Jimmie” and Laura “Elizabeth” Eddington. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1966. He married his wife Diana on August 3, 1990 in Amarillo. Jimmie worked as an electrician for Pantex for 29 years, retiring in 2011. He was a member of IBEW Local Chapter #602. He loved the time he spent volunteering at the Sugarite Canyon State Park in Raton, New Mexico for seven years. Jimmie was a school crossing guard and an active member of Family Life Church, where he served as a deacon and also an elder. Jimmie enjoyed camping, fishing, playing pool and going to and watching baseball games. He was a people person who never met a stranger. Jimmie had a gift for story-telling. He adored his dogs, JD and Rowdy, as well as Buddy who has passed away.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Jimmie Eddington, Jr. and Michael Eddington.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Eddington; a son, William “Jack” Eddington of Amarillo; three step-daughters, Debbie Martin (Marty), Davon Hart, and Skeeter Skaggs (Jackie) all of Amarillo; a step-son, Donnie Parden (Annie) of Amarillo; a sister, Pat Steele (Greg) of Calgary, Alberta; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
