Jo Nell Penny

 Born, Placid, Texas, January 17, 1932 
Died, Amarillo, Texas, February 13, 2021 

Jo Nell Caffey Penny was the youngest of six children of Earl Caffey and Tennie Rampy Caffey. She grew up near Brady, Texas.

 Jo Nell went to Howard Payne College in Brownwood where she met Stanley Penny. Jo and Stan soon married and moved to Delray Beach, Florida, where they raised their family and continued to live until retirement. They then moved back to Texas to be closer to family. 
 
Jo Nell worked as a school secretary and registrar for many years, and finished her career as a receptionist in a CPA firm. She took satisfaction in serving people through her work. 

Jo Nell enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, and visiting with family and friends. She was a church choir member for many years and enjoyed singing the old Baptist hymns. Jo was also a football fan who had a special passion for the Seminoles of Florida State University, her son’s alma mater.

 Jo Nell was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers and two sisters, her husband, with whom she had been married 60 years at the time of his death, and her son, Mark Penny. She is survived by her daughter, Joy Cox, son-in-law, Alan Cox, and a passel of nephews and nieces, great-nephews and -nieces, and great-great-nephews and -nieces. 
 
The family wishes to express appreciation to the staffs of Moore Assisted Living, BSA Health System, and BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their compassionate care. 
Memorials may be directed to The Salvation Army, BSA Hospice of the Southwest, or the charity of your choice.
