Joe Matlock Obituary

Joe Don Matlock passed peacefully from this life on July 29, 2022 in Amarillo. 

Don was born in Pampa, Texas on July 22, 1945. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in Claude. He joined the United States Army in 1963, serving two tours in Vietnam as an artilleryman, as well as in Korea. After serving in the Army, he drove a truck for 32 years and married the love of his life Shirley on January 21, 1991. 

Don was a kind and very giving man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer and Nelda Matlock, his wife Shirley and his brother Bill Matlock. 

He is survived by two sisters Myrna Knierim of Denton, Texas and Ann Blankenship of Kansas City, sister-in-law Sandy Matlock of Amarillo, many nieces, nephews and friends including his best friend Kevin Black of Fritch, TX. 

Graveside service under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home is planned for Tuesday August 2, 2022 at Claude Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest remembrances be made to the Claude Cemetery Association.
