Joel Trevino Maldonado

Joel Trevino Maldonado 74, of Amarillo passed away April 9, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be Thursday April 14, 2022 from 5-7 pm at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be held Friday April 15, 2022 at 10 am at New Life Church with Pastor Spike Maldonado and Pastor Manny De Los Santos officiating. He was born March 18,1948 in Cuero, Texas to Miguel and Josephine Maldonado. He attended James Bowie Middle School. He met the love of his life Mary and they spent 54 wonderful years together until her death in August 2021. He was the owner of a paint and body shop and a radio host for KZIP Mexican Station for many years. He retired from Cornerstone testing Inc. His family was very important to him, he was always there for them never leaving their side. He wasn’t a wealthy person, but he used his hands and techniques to help others in need. He knew how to fix anything that was broken. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid knife collector, he blessed anyone he loved with a knife. He enjoyed grilling and cooking with his family, may his tradition live on.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Mary; his parents; a sister Eva Pantoja; a brother David Maldonado; grandson Daniel Luera.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Michael Maldonado and wife Juanita; Ricky Maldonado and wife Tina of Amarillo; Simon Maldonado of McAllen; Cindy Maldonado and Olivia Murguia and husband Joe of Amarillo. Grandchildren: Ashley Mejia, Jon Mejia, Jacob Romero, Alexis Murguia, Marisa Luera, Marcos Luera, Natalie Maldonado, Jacob Maldonado, Brianna Maldonado, Brileen Maldonado, Faith Maldonado, Matthew Martinez, Emilio Maldonado and Julia Maldonado along with nine great grandchildren.
