John Albert Johnson

John Albert Johnson, 96, of Amarillo, passed away on March 21, 2023. Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 PM Saturday March 25, 2022 at Lamount Drive Baptist Church, 8400 Lamount Dr with Pastor Glen Switzer and Chaplain Richard Ashford officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley funeral Home.

John was born on January 01, 1927 in Guymon, Oklahoma to Alta and George Johnson. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945. John has been a part of the Amarillo area since the 1940’s and was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. He built door units for more than twenty years, working for Longbell Lumber Co. and Rudy Bauman Lumber. John was a Knights of Columbus here in s Amarillo as well. He enjoyed traveling, astronomy, skiing and riding his motorcycle. John was a hard and dedicated worker. He was loved and will be missed. 

John was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Don Johnson and seven siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Johnson of the home; three sons, Ron Johnson and wife Cinda, Mark Johnson and James Johnson; two daughters, Becky Blackwell and husband Tom and Chris Goodwin and husband Danny all of Amarillo; seventeen grandchildren and host of great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Lamount Drive Baptist Church, 8400 Lamount Drive, Amarillo, TX 79110.
