Juan Reyes-Escobedo

Juan Reyes-Escobedo, 77, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at Living Water Family Church, 2500 S. Eastern St. with Pastor Oscar Mendoza officiating.

Juan was born April 29, 1944 in Allende Coahuila, Mexico. He grew up there and moved to the U.S. at the age of 17. He worked for IBP, Tyson, Monfort and Affiliated Foods as a heavy equipment operator. In his spare time, Juan enjoyed boxing, playing his guitar and singing. His passion was spending time with his family. He adored his grandkids and great-grandkids; they were his heart. He always had dollar bills on the ready to hand out to the kids. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

Juan was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Juan Reyes, Jr.; a granddaughter, Marissa Ramos; a grandson, Jarod Rivas; a great-great-grandson, Emilio Rivera; and a great-great granddaughter, Jayleianna Rivas.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Reyes; three sons, Glenn Encinias and wife Laura of Hooker, OK, Juan Reyes, Jr. and Rogelio Reyes both of Amarillo; seven daughters, Valerie Montoya and husband Juan of Plainview, Bernice Ortiz and husband Joe of Amarillo, Juanita Bitela and husband Jesse of San Antonio, Sonia Apodaca and husband Steve, Maria Reyes, Eluteria Saavedra and husband Joseph, and Norma Armendariz and husband Robert all of Amarillo; two brothers, Rogelio Reyes and wife Martha and Pedro Reyes all of Mexico; a sister, Isidra Guzman of Mexico; 41 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
