Julie Susan (Whitbread) Greene

Julie Susan Whitbread Greene was called home by our Lord on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the age of 72 in Amarillo, TX. Julie was born August 8, 1948 in Hollywood, CA. She graduated from Burges High School in 1966 and later from the University of Texas at El Paso with a B.A. in Elementary Education.  She was a librarian for 33 years at S.F. Austin Elementary School and later retired from Fannin Middle School. She had a passion for coordinating the annual Fannin History Festival and always an advocate and mentor for her students, staff and teachers. She was a fighter for a righteous cause and lived in the moment when meeting strangers.

Julie is preceded in death by her parents Jeanne and Walt Whitbread of El Paso, TX.

Julie is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, John Greene; her children Shannon Forbus of Southlake, TX, Nicole Butcher of Walla Walla, WA and Russell Parham of Amarillo, TX along with her five grandchildren: Chelsea, Ryan, Brooke, Cason, and Jordan. Julie is also survived by her sister, Linda East of El Paso, TX and her brother, Bill Whitbread of Tucson, AZ.  Let’s not forget her loving pets: Lily, Rocket, Mister, Chico and Lucy. 

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to MD Anderson Hospital, the Good Care Nursing team of Amarillo and Open Heart Hospice for the wonderful family support and care they gave Julie.
