Kay Coburn Halford, 76, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Washington Ave. Christian Church, 3800 S. Washington St. with Pastor Jim Shelburne officiating.
Kay was born November 9, 1944 in Geary, Oklahoma to Denford and Velma Coburn. The family moved to Amarillo in 1945. Kay graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1962. She was a member of the Palo Duro Alumni Association and the Palo Duro Dolls. Kay married Jerry Halford, Sr. on November 3, 1984. She worked at Asarco until her retirement in 1986, and sold Mary Kay Cosmetics for many years. Kay loved dogs and worked as a pet sitter which she really enjoyed. In her spare time, she was a talented crafter and enjoyed sewing. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Jerry Halford, Sr.
Survivors include four sons, Shane White and wife Jinger, and Shawne White all of Amarillo, Jerry “Rookie” Halford, Jr. and wife Michele of Jacksonville, NC, and Darrin Halford and wife Jennifer of Fayetteville, NC; two daughters, Shannon Vanover and husband Michael of Amarillo, and Cheri Thompson and husband Kevin of North Richland Hills, TX; a brother, Ronnie Coburn and wife Diana of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her best friend, Maria Ladd of the Dallas area.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Amarillo SPCA.
