LaVerne "Nana" Williams Obituary

LaVerne “Nana” Williams, 93, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday March 9, 2024. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday March 12, 2024 at Llano Cemetery with Pastor Greg Corona Officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home on Monday March 11, 2024. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. 

LaVerne was born on November 13, 1930 in Mobeetie to Foy and Grace Beck. She has been a part of the Amarillo community most of her life. LaVerne married her husband, Bill E. Williams on February 17, 1949 in Amarillo and together they built their home and raised a family in the community. She had many talents, including but not limited to; Photography, calligraphy, painting, sewing, crochet and needlepoint and working with ceramics. LaVerne worked for Dru Potter Photography in Amarillo where she enjoyed takingwedding photographs. She also enjoyed taking pictures of newborns at Northwest Texas Hospital. LaVerne was tech savvy to the end, always enjoying her iPad and being active on social media; she saw it as a great way to keep up with the times and keep a sharp mind. LaVerne loved her family, spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. LaVerne, who was also interested in Genealogy, took a great interest in her family and was always happy to tell you family names and history. She was invested in her community to the end, and even volunteered in her granddaughter’s classroom at Western Plateau Elementary any chance she got. She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. 

LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, C.O. and Grace Flanagan; her husband, Bill E. Williams; son-in-law, Frank Reinhardt and one great granddaughter, Aspen Childers. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, two daughters, Dee Beckham and husband Bobby, and Debby Reinhardt all of Amarillo; one son, Danny Williams and wife Cheryl of Frisco; six grandchildren, Jason Reinhardt, Mandy Childers and husband Darrol, Jarrod Reinhardt, Lisa Herring and husband Will, Kip Milbern and wife Jamie and Lynda Tombrella and husband Aaron; 19 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Survivors also include a host of extended family and close friends. The family would like to make special mention of her great granddaughter, Falyn Childers for dedication and love to “Nana”.
