Loyd L. Vessel, III, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive with Ira Purdy officiating. Private burial will be at Llano East Cemetery. You may view the service at https://www.fhwebsites.org/cxh/live-streaming-. Loyd was born July 11, 1955 in Amarillo to Sara and Loyd Vessel, II. He graduated from Amarillo High School. He worked with his father at the family business, Custom Printing, before going on to be a truck driver. Loyd’s true passion was HAM Radio. His call sign was KB5AZA. He was a 35 year member of the Panhandle Amateur Radio Club. He will be greatly missed by his large extended family at the club. Loyd is remembered as being fearless and funny, and people gravitated toward him. Loyd was preceded in death by his father, Loyd L. Vessel, II. Survivors include a son, Michael Mathis and wife Kalon of Hickory Creek, TX; a daughter, Keeli Mendoza of Lubbock; his mother, Sara Vessel of Amarillo; four sisters, Lynette Kysar, Vickie Sewell and husband Rusty all of Amarillo; Liz Poulain and husband Jay of McKinney, TX, and Andrea Hendricks and husband Eric of Amarillo; four grandsons, Logan, Lucian, Kaiser, and Baiden; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
