Lucille Schad, 95, of Gruver, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Gruver Cemetery, with Pastor Scott Curry of First Baptist Church of Gruver officiating.
Lucille was born July 18, 1926 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She graduated from high school in Eldon, Missouri. She married Dorsey Schad on July 24, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas. Lucille dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a talented quilter and seamstress, even making one of her daughter’s wedding gowns. She enjoyed reading and working in her vegetable garden. Lucille was an excellent hostess and cook. She continued to learn things for her whole life. She learned computer skills late in life, and learned and taught ESL in her 80s. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Gruver. She resided with her daughter, Debbie, for the last several years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Leaton, and her husband Dorsey Schad.
Survivors include three daughters, De Ann Chapman (Gerry) and Debbie Etheredge all of Amarillo, and Jeannette Henry (Clint) of Meridian, ID; a son, Richard Schad (Cheryl) of Gruver; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
