Margaret Irvin Obituary

Margaret Louise Irvin, 82, of Amarillo passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday June 2, 2022. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, June 6, 2022 at San Jacinto Assembly of God, 400 N. Georgia St with Pastor Billy Snider officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday June 5, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Margaret was born on January 25, 1940 in Kedron, Arkansas to Charlie and Hattie Griddine. She attended Amarillo College and received her associates degree in education and taught at Opportunity School for 36 years. During her time teaching she had the pleasure of meeting former President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Barbara Bush. Margaret has been a part of the Amarillo Community since 1959. She met and married her former husband here and raised her five children here. Margaret loved the Lord and was a faithful member of San Jacinto Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Margaret was an avid gardener who enjoyed yard work and being outdoors. She could also spend endless hours in her kitchen and loved to cook. She was referred as "Momgyver" as she could fix anything that was put in front of her. Above all, Margaret enjoyed being surrounded by her family giving time to her children and grandchildren. She raised five of the most wonderful, loving, and giving children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Gary Wayne Irvin, two sisters; Charlene Blackwell and Horotha Majors, and three brothers; Willis Griddine Jr, Ulysses Griddine, and J.D. Griddine.

Survivors include her son, Rodney Irvin of Rowlett; three daughters, Brenda Anthone', Stephanie Williams (Chuck), and Pamela Irvin all of Amarillo; one brother, David Griddine of Henderson, Nevada; four grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Stephen Irvin-Mims, Brian Anthone' and Devan Reck-Irvin, and four great grandchildren.
