Marvin Richard Lewis, 80, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday at South Georgia Baptist Church, 5209 S. Georgia St. with Pastor Mike Martin officiating. Marvin was born November 13, 1939 in Lamesa, Texas to Lester and Carrie Mae Lewis. Marvin graduated from Andrews High School in Andrews, Texas. He married Jeanette Beets on January 26, 1961 in Andrews. He worked for Mrs. Baird’s Bakery for 38 years, retiring in 2002 as supervisor. Marvin dedicated his life to serving the Lord, especially through music. He was the worship leader at Second Baptist Church in Andrews as a young man, at the time he and Jeanette married. He went on to serve as worship leader at Lamont Drive Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church in Muleshoe. Marvin sang high tenor in a quartet called the Crusaders in Muleshoe. Marvin and Jeanette have been active members of South Georgia Baptist Church for many years. Marvin served as deacon, as well as singing in the worship and senior choirs there. Marvin will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Lewis; two sons, Edwin Stuart Lewis and wife Joy of Allison, and Harold Dean Lewis and wife Carol of Amarillo; a daughter, Amy Watson and husband Mike of Amarillo; two brothers, Ralph Lewis and wife Fritzi Heron of Odessa, and David Lewis and wife Judy of Ruidoso; a sister, Genevieve Townsend of Crane; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
