Montie Kiefer, 70, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Family Life Church, 3900 SW 58th Ave. with Pastor Robbie Ashlock officiating.
Montie was born on August 20, 1951 in Wister, OK to Loten and Sarah Lee Kiefer. He married the love of his life, Connie, in June of 1973. Shortly after, he began his 42 year career at Valero as a Tool Room Mechanic. Montie was a hard worker, one who never complained, a faithful son, a caring brother, a loving husband and father, an ornery grandpa, king of the remote, an awesome father-in-law, and a good friend, with a big heart.
In his younger years, Montie had a love for racing and trophies to show for it. His love of cars and motorcycles was apparent throughout his life. An avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Braves, and the Oklahoma Sooners, he spent many days rooting them on. He was never without his furry companions and was notorious for sneaking them a treat, or 12!
Montie loved his family more than anything. His dedication and devotion to the ones he loved was remarkable. He was the best dad. The perfect combination of firm, fair, and gentle. He never missed a practice, concert, or game. His support was always felt and his advice was spot on. The best dads make the best grandpas and Montie lived up to that. He was so proud of his grandkids.
Montie was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter, Mandy Gale Kiefer.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Kiefer; a daughter, Laura Herndon and husband Michael of Amarillo; a son, Matt Kiefer and wife Stacie of Amarillo; three sisters, Peggy May, Janis Trammell and husband Joe, and Jeannie Simmons all of Wister, OK; and four grandchildren, Payton Kiefer, Brayton Kiefer, Jake Herndon and Grace Herndon.
