Pastor John Love Obituary

Pastor John Edward Love, 81, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Trinity Fellowship Church, 5000 Hollywood Rd. in the West Auditorium, with Pastor Kyle Wilkinson and Pastor Bo Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, October 13, 2023 at Trinity Fellowship Church in the Student Ministries Building.

John was born December 30, 1941 in Cleburne, Texas to Frank and Emma Lee Love. He graduated from Cleburne High School and earned a bachelor degree from Texas Tech University. John married the love of his life Kathryne Larsen, “Kathy”, on September 2, 1967 in Pampa, Texas. Together, they raised three children, and enjoyed 56 years of marriage. John worked at Cal Farley’s Boy’s Ranch for 19 years before being called to the ministry. While at Boy’s Ranch, John wore many hats. He was a donor liaison and worked in the accounting department; but his favorite role may have been playing Santa Claus.

John and Kathy were founding members of Trinity Fellowship Church in 1977. John was called in to full-time ministry at the church in 1987, and he never looked back. In his typical fashion, John went all in and served in many capacities at the church. He helped start home groups, now known as small groups, as well as helping to start the Trinity Fellowship Christian School. He officiated many weddings and funerals over the years. John retired from his full-time position at the church in 2014, but never stopped giving of his time. He would drop everything if someone needed his help.

John’s passion was studying about Israel, where he had the opportunity to visit nine times. He was an avid reader and enjoyed learning about history. He loved “wine Wednesdays” with his granddaughters. John adored his wife Kathy and his family meant everything to him. He had a genuine love for people, and connected with most everyone he ever met. He was a friend to many, and will be greatly missed.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Love; a son, Johnny Love (Erin) of Amarillo; two daughters, Amy Allen (Michael) of Wichita Falls, TX, and Heather Schrader (Erik) of Amarillo; two sisters, Patricia Cowan of Arlington, TX and Barbara Love of Ft. Worth; nine grandchildren, Bailey Wise (Colton), Ally Beth Cawthron (Cy), Emmy Schniederjan (Trenton Vanhuss), Emmett Schniederjan (McKenzie Carroll), David Love, John Love, Barrett Love, Eian Schrader and Kailee Schrader; a great-granddaughter, Blakely Rose; and Baby Wise on the way. Survivors also include many nieces, nephews and other family members.
