Patsy Christian Sparkman, 88, of Amarillo, passed away on March 21, 2021 at her home. Funeral services will be Saturday March 27, 2021 in Amarillo and are reserved for family and close friends only. Patsy will be available for viewing on Friday March 26, 2021 from 12:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. Patsy was born on September 4, 1932 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Hershel and Ruth Christian. She married her husband, Roy Sparkman on June 28, 1955 in Clovis, New Mexico. Patsy was a longtime member of South Lawn Baptist Church in Amarillo. When they could, she and Roy enjoyed traveling in their motor home. Patsy worked as an insurance agent for Ordway Saunders for over 42 years here in Amarillo. She was a dedicated worker and was always focused on providing for her family. She was a talented Tole painter and enjoyed music, gardening and bird watching in her spare time. Patsy considered education to be essential in life and put all three of her sons through college. She loved her grandchildren very much and enjoyed spending time with her family. Patsy had a very giving heart and always put her family's needs above her own. She dedicated her life to her sons, grandchildren and family. She will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Sparkman and two brothers, Darril and Dawain.
Survivors include her three sons, Roy Lee Sparkman Jr. of Cleburne, Oliver Kent Sparkman and wife Andrea Zimmerman of Liberty Hill and Patrick Wayne Sparkman and wife Robin of San Diego, California; her grandson, Michael Sparkman and her granddaughter, Jordan Sparkman; one sister, Dulan Emmert and her husband Freddie of Lawton, Oklahoma; her beloved cat "Little Bit" and her dear caregivers, Terri and Lorraine.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to South Lawn Baptist Church, 4306 S. Washington Street Amarillo, Texas 79110.
