Peggy Jackson Wells Obituary

Peggy Louise Jackson Wells, 87, of Amarillo, passed away on May 6, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10am on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Washington Avenue Christian Church with Pastor Jim Shelburne officiating.

Peggy was born on January 20, 1935 in Alva, Oklahoma to Roy and Alice Jackson.  She graduated from Alva High School, home of the Goldbugs, in 1953.

She married her soul mate and love of her life Vernon “Jerry” Wells on November 26, 1975 in Goddard, KS.  They spend 42 wonderful years together until his passing in 2017.

Peggy was a longtime member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church/Hillside and in her later years attended Washington Avenue Christian Church. She was a special mother who, instead of a bedtime story, sang “Moon River” to her children every night at bedtime.

She was a classy woman who had an eye for fashion and loved to shop. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, games and spending time with her family.  She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for many years, and cherished her friendships.

Peggy will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alice Jackson, her husband, Jerry, her son, Dr. Derrick Skaggs, and her brother, Jim Jackson.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Jana May and husband Mike, Robbie Davis, Cindy Ray and husband Keith, Chris Wells and wife Ellen, her brother Timm Jackson and wife Karen, along with 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Brenda Christy, Diane Shepherd and the staff of Care Cottage for the excellent care and love shown to Peggy during the past 7 months. You made her part of your family and we will be forever grateful.
