Raquel Galan Obituary

Raquel “Rocky” Galan, 49, of Amarillo, passed away on September 14, 2021. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Greater Love Temple, 811 S. Tennessee, with Bishop J.G. Riles Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery.  Rosary Services will be 6:00 PM  Friday September 24, 2021 and the family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. The family has requested that everyone in attendance at the funeral wear a mask. Masks will not be provided so you will need to bring your own mask.

Raquel was born in Amarillo on March 9, 1972 to Patsy and Caesar Galan. She loved people and loved to give to others. Raquel was never afraid to help someone in need and make sure there needs were met. She touched all who surrounded her. Raquel enjoyed being with all of her friends and they all called her “sis” which made them family. She had a loud personality, enjoyed event planning and was the life of the party. She loved her family and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. Raquel was fondly referred to as “Granny” and she cherished each of her “Granny kids”. She enjoyed cooking and her family remember how well she could fry chicken. Raquel loved sunflowers and Betty Boop. She was known for her love of red “hooker” lipstick and having an Old E.

Raquel was preceded in death by her two grandfathers, Felipe Aguilar and Fernando Salazar; two grandmothers, Alberta Salazar and Graciala Casa; one grandson, Caesar.

Survivors include her two daughters, Aubrey Walker of Houston and Antanette Walker of Amarillo; her parents, Patsy L. Galan and Caesar Palomino Galan of Amarillo; one sister, “sister Berdie” Galan-Salas and husband Paul of Brea, CA; one brother, Marcos Galan and wife Trisha of Moore, OK; seven grandchildren, Asiah, Amarie, Aniya, Ana’Liyah, Amilah, Ardus and Cameron; one God-daughter, Kaziyah Dean; her mother-in-law, Danneese. Survivors also include a host of additional family and close friends.
