Richard Bellamy, 82, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive with Chaplain Jeff Messer officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Richard was born July 10, 1940 in Amarillo, Texas to Robert and Callie Bellamy. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, mostly stationed in Florida and Turkey. Richard earned his bachelor degree in accounting from West Texas State University. He did accounting for a Caterpillar factory in Illinois and worked as a payroll advisor and contract administrator for Bell Helicopter for several years. He owned Circle R Feed and raised cattle.
Richard had a heart for people who were less fortunate than himself. He cared about people and went above and beyond to give a leg up to many homeless people throughout the years, sometimes to his detriment. He adored his dog Buck. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert Shadden; a brother, Bobby Lee Bellamy; and a sister, Helen Porter.
Survivors include two sisters, Frankie Womack and husband Leonard of Amarillo and Carol Card and husband David of Denver, CO; two brothers, Madison J. Bellamy and wife Elizabeth of Lubbock, and Roger D. Bellamy of Midland; his close friend, Ruben Gonzalez, II; and several nieces and nephews.
