Obituary

Richard Allan Perry, 65, of Amarillo went to Heaven on August 7, 2023. Viewing / Visitation will be on August 14th at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home 4180 Canyon Drive from 5pm to 7pm. Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 AM on August 15th at Llano Cemetery East officiated by Pastor Paul Richardson of Rockwell Road Baptist Church.

Richard was born in Amarillo Texas on October 2, 1957 to Raymond and Bobbie Perry. Richard graduated from Palo Duro High School. Richard had an array of different jobs giving him so much knowledge in almost everything. However, Richard was a truck driver for the better part of his life. He loved the freedom of the road and would say he had the best view from his office window.

In September of 2011, Richard met his now wife, Toni (aka Hemorrhoid), and they married on September 16, 2019. Richard was Toni’s hero and her Best Friend. Richard also loved going to the Canadian River with his Brother Donald Perry and Nephew Nathan Perry. From the many stories of their adventures at the river, they always pushed anything they drove to the max. It seemed like he never told the same story twice from all of the memories he had of running with his “partners in crime.”

Richard also loved children. The onyrier the better he would say. He spent the last 2 and a half years of his life getting the opportunity to enjoy the presence of his grand-daughter Annaleiyah. She came into this world to brighten his during his battle with Oral Cancer. Richard also had a little buddy named Boog, his great nephew, who would come over and both he and Richard would see who could outdo the other.

Richard was the strongest, toughest and most stubborn man his wife had ever known. He went through 2 open heart operations, 3 heart stents, 18 hour oral cancer surgery, and just recently another 8 hour surgery to correct some of the issues from his cancer surgery all while making sure that life went on as “normal” as it could be. Per his wife, he was ALWAYS right. He would tell Toni, “ I thought I was wrong once, but found out I was actually right after all!” Richard was rough on the outside, but a big softy on the inside.

Richard is preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Perry, his parents, Raymond and Bobbie Perry, two brothers, Jim Perry and Ronnie Perry, and two sisters Charlene Thorton, and Sharon Roy.

Richard leaves behind his wife, Toni Perry. Two sons, Jason Perry and wife Rebecca, Tim Perry and wife Angela, and a daughter Susan Johnson and husband Charles. Richard also leaves behind two bonus sons, Tanner Andrews and wife Abby, J’Dyn Andrews and wife Kim, and a bonus daughter Courtnie Hart and husband Bailey. Richard also leaves behind three brothers, Donald Perry and wife Angela, R.L. Perry and wife Doris, and Wayne Perry. He leaves behind two sisters, Cathy Oaks and husband Frank and Cindy Henderson. Richard also leaves behind 17 grandkids and 2 great grandbabies with 2 new great grandbabies
