Ricky Rhodes Obituary

Ricky Lynn Rhodes passed away in Amarillo on January 17, 2021. Ricky was born in Hale Center on November 28, 1958, to Dennis Elmer Rhodes and Johnnie Mae Robertson. Ricky grew up in Abernathy and was active in the Hale County 4-H Club. He loved animals and had many calves and pigs while in 4-H. Some of his happiest times were on his horse participating in the riding club in Abernathy. His family moved to Kingsville, where he graduated from high school.

Ricky later moved to Amarillo and was a member of Amarillo Fellowship Church. He had lived at Country Club Nursing Home for nine years, and the family would like to thank the staff for their love and care of him.

Ricky was preceded in death by both parents and by his grandparents, John and Venda Robertson of Hale Center and Elmer and Fannie Rhodes of Paris, Texas.

Ricky is survived by his sister Denese Rhodes of Amarillo. Ricky is also survived by two nephews, Dustin Heinen and wife, Erin of Raleigh, North Carolina, along with their three children, Hunter Heinen and wife, Jacie of McKinney, Texas. He is also survived by a niece, Danielle Meanor and husband, Michael of McKinney, Texas, along with their four children. Ricky is also survived by his stepmother, Kala Rhodes-Staggs, his stepsisters, Shelly Barnard and Kanda Barnard and stepbrother, Britt Barnard. Ricky is also survived by several aunts and cousins and his best friend, Noreenia Brunson.

A private family burial will be held. The family asks that memorials be made to the Children’s Ministry at Amarillo Fellowship Church 8425 Bell Street, Amarillo, Texas 79110, 806.463.1232
