Stephen Holmes Obituary

Stephen Ray Holmes, “Bubba”,  57, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, February 17th, 2024. Funeral services will be at Crossroads Church on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Deborah Huffman officiating. Stephen will be available for viewing from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, February 19th, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Stephen was born on March 31st, 1966 in Amarillo, to Eddie and Leslie Holmes. He attended Caprock high school where he was a part of the swim team. Stephen worked for Owens Corning as a supervisor for many years and also managed medical billing for a time with an in home medical equipment company. He was a long time member of the Anna Street Church of Christ. Stephen enjoyed creating art, specifically creative mosaic pieces, integrating his talents on tables, and even a Harley Davidson. He and his friend Greg opened a shop on 6th street called Painted Cave to showcase their art and still has several of the mosaic tables they createdHe enjoyed the Amarillo Dragway where he raced cars that he and his dad fixed up and loved racing dirt bikes at the race track. He was also a huge fan of NASCAR and watched every race that came on, two of his favorite drivers being Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott. He was loved by many and will be missed beyond words. Bubba was the best uncle and took pride in making sure his nieces were taken care of, always reminding them he loved them to the moon.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Brooke Giles.

Survivors include his two nieces, Ashley Hanks and husband Tate, Allison Giles and her fiancé, Justin Porter, all of Amarillo; one nephew, Michael Giles of Kansas. Survivors also include a host of extended family and close friends.
