Obituary

Sydney Nicholson, 88, of Amarillo passed away on Monday April 3, 2023. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Tuesday April 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM with Ira Purdy officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Sydney was born on April 4, 1934 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Lucious and Juanita Rogers. She was one of six children. Sydney attended Bowlegs High School in Bowlegs Oklahoma. She was an avid bridge player, even being a part of many bridge clubs. Sydney liked to gamble and play the slot machines. She had a great sense of adventure and loved to travel and spend time up in the mountains at the cabin with her family. Sydney had a strong dislike for snowmobiles. She also enjoyed going to the senior center to visit her many friends.

Sydney was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Edward, Junior, and Tommy Rogers; and one sister, Sara White.

She is survived by one son, Allen Pippin (Ellen) of Amarillo; one daughter Lynne Ayllon (Paul) of Schertz, Texas; one sister, Keturah Brown of Stroud, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and a multitude of great-grandchildren.
