W.F. “Mac” McCaghren, Jr., 89, of Amarillo, died Sunday, September 13, 2020. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Bell Ave. Baptist Church, 5211 Bell St. with Pastor Danny Logan officiating. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Saturday at East Mound Cemetery in Matador. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, September 18, 2020 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mac was born February 26, 1931 in Motley County, Texas to W.F. and Judine McCaghren. He graduated from Matador High School and earned his bachelor degree from West Texas State College. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Mac worked as an accountant for the City of Amarillo for 39 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed going on sight-seeing bus tours, and watching old movies, especially John Wayne. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Mac was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Oleta McCaghren; his second wife, Frances McCaghren; two sons, Marty McCaghren, and Mike Milligan; and a granddaughter, Christi Morton. Survivors include a sister, Sue Scott of Palestine; a daughter-in-law, Debbie McCaghren of Sealy; a step-son, Doug Milligan and wife Sheila of Dumas; a step-daughter, Vicki Dewett and husband Joe of Mill Creek, OK; grandchildren, Missy McCaghren of Slaton, Mandy Losch and husband Joel of Chandler, AZ, Tim McCaghren and wife Holly of College Station, Michelle Williams and Stacy Milligan both of Canyon, Vanice Pierson of Amarillo, James Dewett of Cherokee, OK, and Danal Dewett of Nescatunga, OK; 16 great-grandchildren; and his best friend, Ruby Post of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials may be made to Cal Farley’s Boy’s Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave. Amarillo, TX 79101; or the local VFW Post.
