Wanda Williams Obituary

Wanda Louise Williams, 84, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. No services are scheduled at this time. In light of Covid concerns, the family would like you to know she did not die from Covid. She had managed a chronic kidney disease and other conditions for many years. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Wanda was born in Wilson, Oklahoma on September 30, 1936 to Thelma Mae Kirby. Wanda married her first husband Leland Cavner. He and Wanda were married for about 10 years then divorced when their son, Randy was about 9 years old. They each remarried not long afterwards, both having long term 2nd marriages neither having children with their 2nd spouses. Leland died in 2015 and his wife died in 2016. Wanda married Gerald "Jerry" Williams and they spent many happy years together before his death in 2014. She and her husband Jerry enjoyed traveling to the mountains and spending time at the lake camping during the summer seasons. Wanda loved to play poker and was a regular at the Moose Lodge in Amarillo every Sunday. She loved being home and visiting with her family, especially FaceTime with her grandchildren and great-grandson, Asher. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Wanda was preceded in death by her mother; her husband, Jerry Williams; one brother, Billy Ray Kirby.

Survivors include her son, Randy Cavner and wife Shannon of Baldwin City, Kansas; two grandchildren, Grason Cavner and Kate Cavner; one great-grandson, Asher Cavner; her sweet dog, Sadie; several close neighbors who looked out for her, especially the Velez family; and a host of extended family and friends.
