Weldon “Bo” Arthur, 87, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Minister Bailey Chisum officiating.
Bo was born April 30, 1933 in Jayton, Texas to Charlie and Bessie Arthur. He graduated from Petit High School in Petit, Texas, and earned a bachelor degree from Texas Tech University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955, stationed in Japan. Bo worked as an accountant for TABC. In his spare time, Bo thoroughly enjoyed playing with his grandkids and coaching their baseball teams, as he was an avid baseball fan. He played American Legion baseball. Bo particularly enjoyed attending all sporting events for the entire family. Spending time with his family was his passion. He loved his animals, dogs and cats, gospel and country music, especially Willie Nelson and Ernest Tubb. Bo was an avid collector of many things. He was extremely proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army, and to have retired from the State of Texas.
Bo was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Susan Elaine Arthur; a great-grandson, Brecken Simpson; and two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Arthur; a daughter, Nancy Simpson of Amarillo; a sister, Kay Ashmore of Plainview; two sisters-in-law, Jane Arthur and Ruth Arthur; three grandsons, Shane Simpson and wife Ginna of Amarillo, Billy Hennon of Prudhoe Bay, AK, and Blake Hennon of Glen Carbon, IL; three great-grandsons, Joseph Terven, Camron Hennon both of Katy, Briggston Simpson of Amarillo; two great-granddaughters, Shelby Simpson, and Gracelynne Simpson both of Amarillo.
The family suggests memorials be made to Barnes Jewish Hospital, One Barnes-Jewish Hospital Plaza, St. Louis, MO 63110.
